When I was surprised to find out my friend Jed Shepherd was capable of “making a Band Car(my livestream show where I freestyle words people write in while making a beat and driving my car) horror film and I would be flying to the UK, I made them buy an extra ticket for my partner in crime Collin Deatherage to come with me so we could record an album during the two week government forced quarantine. After all, we’d be staying at The Libertines’ combination hotel, bar/music venue, coffee shop/restaurant and recording studio. We got together with Jamie Reynolds from the Klaxons and Albion’s in-house engineer Jason Stafford and made a super rushed album that still doesn’t feel finished. We weren’t allowed to work on it 🫡 for some reason whilst certain people weren’t there and were left with nothing to do for over a week.
“Let’s record these other songs that should be on this LP if it weren’t pandering to critics and instead was a cohesive album” said one of us.
So this is us in two takes or less. Really bare bones. Devil Inside, aside that is. Giant Drag and my life is always rife with difficulty. It’s programmed into the band via the name, like the energy of all things. I wish I’d known this before naming the band and before calling my record label Full Psycho.
